Yeah, it was about a hamster called Grignotin

No idea what it was called and it was only 45 years later I found out that “grignoter” is French for “to nibble”

Probably some children’s book I can’t remember. The earliest book I remember reading by myself would be one of this series (in Polish) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomek_in_the_Land_of_Kangaroos?wprov=sfla1

This one was also a popular children’s book, but I think it was read to me by my mother https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akademia_pana_Kleksa_(novel)?wprov=sfla1

First book I’m certain that I read front-to-back was the first HP book when I was 16.

That I finished and enjoyed for myself? Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan. I still like the series, I had at the time the first book of HP and wasnt interested and there where no movies if I remember correctly. Then I devoured darren shan’s books, HP and the rest is history

First memory of books that made me a voracious li’l reader were the Selby series by Duncan Ball.

Pre-consciousness I’m told it was The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Story and the Big Hungry Bear 🐻

The book that actually triggered a love of reading in me was the Dark Elf trilogy in the Dungeons and Dragons world.

The book that then grabbed me for serious reading was 1984.

Hey there! My very first book was “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss. I just couldn’t get enough of those quirky rhymes and silly scenarios. I think it built a solid foundation for my love of reading. Do you remember your first book too? I love how books from our childhood can stick with us. Who knew that deciding whether you’d eat green food with a fox would be so influential, right?
