It is somehow (not that I like the idea of comparing the severity of this) particularly more disgusting and outrageous. You’re right in that it is akin to a family “patriarch” victimizing members of the family. It is even more disheartening that this isn’t exactly uncommon. My mother was a SARC for a period of time while I was growing up and just the small sampling I was exposed to was staggering.
