Since his efforts helped secure Trumpās reelection, Musk has been highly visible at Mar-a-Lago, taking credit for Trumpās victory and acting as if heās a āco-president.ā
Musk has joined key diplomatic calls and even attempted to broker peace with Iran.
Despite his appointment to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, some close to Trump feel Muskās overreach and need for attention may jeopardize his position, as Trump dislikes sharing the spotlight.
Iām no american either so no idea. There are quite some things where I as a European can only think either āwtf, how is that legal?ā or āwtf, that makes no senseā.
Especially that the president can apparently choose any people with any qualifications (or a complete lack thereof) for any position whatsoever. even if they are completely unsuitable or even completely contrary to the purpose of the position.
A modern democracy should have certain safeguards in place. Or at least some fucking standards and requirements.
The 3 branches of government that are supposed to serve as a system of checks and balances on each other have been overtaken by greed and fear.
As we have learned over the last few years, laws are only as strong as their enforcement mechanism. If the institutions responsible for upholding the law fail to do that, or even enable violating the law even more, then the law is useless.
