Let’s say I’m curious about a topic and I want to find a community dedicated to it. I want to search all instances for a community by that name. Is there a feature that allows it?

Assuming you’re using a browser - click the search icon at the top, change the first dropdown to “Communities”, then type in the name and search.
That will only show communities that someone is already subscribed too.
You can switch it to “all” and then search, and it’ll show any community the instance is aware of, but that’s not all of them. The person who answered Lemmyverse.net is correct.
I believe this only works with instances I’m federated with, but thanks for the response.
