So like, I’ve watched the anime back in 2015 and it’s the greatest story of all time.

Fast forward to today, I’ve been catching up in the manga.

Is there a general consensus on how it’s going? How did it go from intricate situations and scenery to straight up essays every panel?

The moment Beyond Netero went off screen and we started getting these essays on all the princes, I’ve been finding it really hard to get through.

It’s so slow…

It’s still good but it’s not giving me the sense of “oh snap” like before. Honestly the thing that keeps me going is:

  • Spider troupe and Hisoka shenanigans
  • Anything the 4th prince does
  • Kurapika being a G

Everything else is like “cool, but I don’t need these monologs from EVERY character”

Still enjoying but no one I know decided to read past the dark continent arc

Those late chapters are a freaking struggle man. It sounds like the author has chronic back issues and it makes it hard for him to draw, hence the essays. I would really like it if he just gave up on the art and focused on writing the story. I am sure he could easily find an amazing artist to collaborate with, and the overall quality would go up.

I really like the current arc in the manga actually. It is a struggle though… So many characters to keep track of, I forget most of them. It could be so much better if someone else took over drawing it but the actual plot is good: Phantom troupe, Hisoka and Kurapika all being near each other is exciting and Tseriednich is shaping up to be a great villain.

I haven’t read the Manga, but I think it has to do with the authors health.

The anime is the high-water mark for power systems for me.

I hope they keep animating it.
