China has launched a new amphibious assault ship, named the Sichuan, which is capable of launching fighter jets and is designed to compete with U.S. military strength in the seas.

      They count that it can get close to shore and deploy a land craft assault as being amphibious. The didn’t cover that point in the fox news article, other news sources talk about it.
