European Digital Rights (EDRi), an association based in Brussels, lists an unprecedented wide range of stakeholders, including child protection experts, survivors of CSA, police, national governments, UN officials, companies, NGOs and warning that the proposed measures are misguided and could do more harm than good.

    Even the EU legislators supporting this KNOW that this is severely violating human rights. There is simply no way that anyone could see this differently. But still want to do it

      “generalised and indiscriminate scanning” is what they want. Doesn’t really matter if there are severe side-effects. The reasons they give (aka children) also don’t really matter to anyone.

      It’s a red herring. And what you percieve as negative side-effects is probably the main effect they’re going for.
