I left LMG - What do I do now?
Hey r/LinusTechTips - Remember me? I’ve been gone for a while, but I haven’t been idle. I’m reaching out to you guys specifically because you were a huge support for me while I was at Linus Media Group, and you’ve been so interested in what I’ve been up to since leaving.
I spent the time away gearing up and prepping for doing my own content, and now I’m finally pulling the trigger. I’ve had to learn a lot of things along the way, like camera operation, lighting, framing, composition, editing, and a whole lot of backend stuff that makes everything tick that I’ve never had to deal with before. I still don’t feel like I’m ready for this, but I can’t sit on it forever.
So I wanted to share this with you directly, and I wanted to thank everyone who’s supported me over the years - not just since coming out. The fact that you still care is huge to me, and I’ll do my best to keep doing the kind of work you’ve come to expect from me over the years.
The most important part of this whole exercise for me is that tech should be for everyone; I want to keep an open mind to people who are less experienced or knowledgeable. Reach out to them and help lift them up - Don’t push them away. If you want to come with me on my journey and become an “expert” like me, then you’re welcome to follow!
Starting off, I’ll be focusing on useful tech tips and “TechQuickie” style explainer videos to get my editing legs, but I do have plans for larger project videos, and there is for sure a Linux series somewhere on the horizon.
Here’s where you can find me:
I also have Ko-Fi and Patreon, but I won’t directly link those here because I already feel very self-promotion-y doing this at all. You can find those in the video description if you’d really like to join there.
Thank you so much again for all the support you’ve given me. It really means a lot!
