Summary

The U.S. Postal Service has suspended all package shipments from China and Hong Kong due to new tariffs imposed by China in response to Trump’s tariff increases.

The move follows Trump’s executive order ending the “de minimis” tax exemption for small imports under $800, affecting ecommerce platforms like Temu and Shein.

U.S. Customs is now scrutinizing millions of parcels daily, causing border delays. Trucking companies report shipments being turned away.

The policy marks a major shift in U.S.-China trade relations, straining global ecommerce logistics.

Broken clock but I’m glad that this shein stuff is getting stopped. If was always sketchy they could sit what they did with shipping.

This won’t stop it (had this decision not been reversed already).

Temu (pdd holdings), Shein, mearsk, etc, would all just continue to freight it over in Gaylord’s, and then pass it over to UPS or FedEx instead of USPS. At most it’ll increase the price slightly on the garbage they send over - but really this just hurts USPS more than anything.

The situation is more complicated than just rejecting packages.

But this shouldn’t have been happening in the first place. Instead of sending their garbage in bulk and paying regular prices they’re packaging it smaller and exploiting a loophole

I know it won’t stop shein, but anything that makes it cost a sustainable price is good.
