Summary

The Treasury Departmentā€™s Office of Inspector General has launched an audit into the security controls of the federal governmentā€™s payment system after concerns over access granted to Elon Muskā€™s DOGE.

The audit, requested by Democratic senators, will also examine transactions from the past two years amid allegations of fraudulent payments.

Treasury initially downplayed DOGEā€™s access but later admitted a team member had editing capabilities.

Lawsuits, congressional scrutiny, and warnings from former Treasury officials highlight concerns over DOGEā€™s potential misuse of sensitive government systems.

This will be closed as fast as it was opened, with Trump having anybody involved in the audit fired.

That said, whatā€™s the end game here? Telling us that virtually everything Musk did was illegal? We already knew that. Do you have the power to do anything about it? No. Youā€™ll hand it over to Congress who will proceed to wipe their asses with it.

Records are still important when history is written. Nazis tried and failed to rewrite history largely because of these records and accounts.
