I like the effort, but I feel like trying so hard to coin a hip new buzz phrase (Dark Patterns) instead of calling it what it is (deceptive marketing practices) is counterproductive.
And “deceptive marketing practices” is too broad. Dark pattern is a subset of that. So the title is being specific, which is something to praise, not criticize.

Agreed, these have been around as long as there were salespeople, just adapted to the Internet.
