      It’s a big part of this blogger’s online identity. Offline identity too, based on this quote from the same blog:

      Meanwhile, I’ve taken fursuit selfies at professional infosec and cryptography conferences.

      The actual luminaries of software security and cryptography quite simply do not give a fuck.

      That is to say: They don’t have any of the same hang-ups about my blog’s furry art (or even being openly gay) that some commentators fear from their bosses and/or peers.

          I would find it equally weird if someone had a big titty anime girl or massive veiny cock art on their cryptography blog.

          I’d find that odd too because that would be rather explicit.

          Meanwhile the images on this blog wouldn’t be out of place in a saturday morning cartoon.

          if you’re going to be this judgey you’ll never make it far in any tech related field. Programmers have a disproportionate number of trans women, infosec and it has a ridiculous number of furries, sysops has a large number of puppy play and pony play advocates; and we all know what those filthy fucking database admins are into.

          You’re a peripheral observer to fields where skill and capability matters more than anything else, and they have the wealth to explore whatever they want.

              This matches my experience in my career as well (various forms of IT into sysadmin/sysengineering), for what it’s worth. Plenty of ways to express yourself and your individuality without bringing something that has strong sexual kink connotations into things.

              And whatever your opinion on the fairness of it, you can’t argue that furry art doesn’t carry a strong strong association with the sexual fetish side of things.

          I used to be super weirded out by furries, just like you. I credit the fediverse for helping me actually get to know many of them. I’ve got no interest in their subculture, but I also interact with them as individuals, and find I don’t need to give a damn what harmless stuff they’re into.

          If you are actually interested in intelligent analysis of security issues, I would advise you to “get over it” since there seems to be quite an over representation of furries in the infosec community. Soatoak is a well-known, knowledgeable and respected figure in this space. Block the (totally tame) artwork if it makes it easier for you.
