Is there a reason why the banner and logo of this community are just the reddit logo?

To be honest that doesn’t seem very appropriate, nor is it very pretty.

If it pleases anyone, here is an image you can crop and use.

It’s just a stylized trace from my old CRT scope.

If I was to guess I’d say the purpose is to establish familiarity… assuming this community migrated during the great reddit migration… also i think it looks cool so…

But it’s partly cut off… And the banner is just the logo, but stretched so far that it’s completely jpegged… How can that possibly look good in any unironic way? .___.

Yeah, it’s initially to flag the relationship between here and there. I agree it has to go and I have already mentioned this to Davide.

Is Davide even still alive? ._. His last activity on Lemmy was 1 month ago.

He’s still around but doesn’t come here much.

Hi, I tried creating a new logo: https://postimg.cc/Jyq6HCNX

I don’t know if you like it, but it’s definitely better than the old reddit one ._.

I’ll look if I can find something nice for the banner too. But worst case I would just use a closeup of some electrical board.

Ideally the logo should be something simple, because it gets displayed in many different places and usually pretty small. ~500x500px should be enough, and the main content should be inside a circle, because the corners are often not displayed.

A more detailed artwork is better for the bigger banner. Most communities seem to use something around 2000x1000px or so.

We could use a macro-photograph of an electronic component again.
