I think it’s fucked that people that make these decisions never face consequences for hurting people.
Thank you for sharing this important - and very well written - article.
Anyone know why Philips kept quiet abut the carcinogenic defect for a decade and announced the problem only after they had a suitable replacement machine?
I need to check with loved ones now. Wow…
It’s always the same awnser, money.
I almost got this machine but I liked the features on the ResMed more and insisted on it instead. Bullet fucking dodged. It’s absolute bullshit that companies can endanger people like this.
Anyone surprised?
They were given to Active Duty servicemembers, too - not just veterans. It took months to get a replacement device.

Yep, I had one of these and used it for years. Luckily mine started degrading right when Phillips replaced it with the new model.
Has anyone taken a cpap test and found out they don’t need one?
Yes, mostly I just need to manage my allergies.
They said off two nights of data, 1 night was on the threshold and the second night was perfectly normal. And said what/if anything I do was really just up to me. But to try doing whatever I did the second night, and maybe test again later to see if it’s working. I think the difference was sleep orientation
Yes. Mind you, many are screened out with an overnight spO2 exam.
