Even though our country is a communist country, it’s pretty hard to find any Marxist, or even someone that really understand what communism actually is among the average people. So I’m trying to find out if there’s any Vietnamese lurking here at Lemmygrad. Show yourselves comrades!
Vijay Prashad said about this, Vietnam let the ideological training go off the hook in 1990s. Nowadays young generation think Michele Obama is a great leader. Even grass roots Chinese don’t know much about marxism, they only come to CPC for advancement in carrier and stuff. Hello from India though. Hats off to uncle ho and his heroic struggle
People are pro-capitalism as fuck over here (at least in my experience). Make me wonder when things went wrong.
Long time back our comrades analysed the opening up in China and post 90s . The overwhelming capitalist propaganda and marketing strategy had a detrimental effect in China. You can observe that before Xi, China was going for liberal thoughts and what not. It was Xi who kinda put a shield to the capitalist effect and also Trump’s Sinophobia, HK protests shaped the mindset. I could be wrong but Chinese are more interested in nationalism rather than Marxism as a whole. Well, you have to revitalize the ideological section but I doubt you can offset the trend though.
I wish we also had a competent communist leader over here. It’s getting wild talking to people around me about communism, most of them have no idea what they’re talking about.
at least you have sane people like Luna Oi and have hammer and sickle flags there , we have fascism and unapologetic hate for Muslims of any kind. You have saved people during covid , we let them die because lives of poor don’t matter here.
Yeah being born here is definitely better than somewhere like the US. And people over here keep preaching about the “American dream” I’m so sick and tired.
Don’t worry , you need a historical spark to reorient the people in right direction. It will happen.
It would be wonderful but I’m not betting on it.
India does have some strong socialist movements, you can find plenty of hammer and sickle flags there too.
They’re mainly concentrated in certain areas though. CPI(M) has good strongholds in Kerala West Bengal and have decent influence in Bihar and South India. Then in areas like Jharkhand and Chattisgarh you have based Naxal activity. But in the BJP strongholds Communism is taboo. I don’t know if CPI(M) is good or if its revisionist but they have been doing a good job in Kerala and doing some land reform in Bengal.
I know CPIM , I have worked with them and they are not definitely revisionist . They have much better understanding of the theory than most commie parties of the world. Naxals don’t exist anymore , most leaders have been killed by the military.
Are people in China generally nationalist, racist, or xenophobic towards foreigners? (Friendly ones of course). Kind of how Japan is?
It would seem self defeating if so, especially in the face of a proletarian movement.
it is Chinese nationalism definitely not the japanese one but yeah , I find their intellectuals have this weird fetish that only Chinese culture has saved China or might be superior to western one. This line of method has been criticized by Vijay Prashad
