The people of ukraine sure one day will realise what tragedy fell upon them because of the hate they fostered for Russians for many years, sure it will be too late, a generation will be genocided by the hands of the West. But tragedy is they won’t realize it now. Because today the blood is fuming with ultra nationalist ideals.

I think a lot of Ukrainians are not supportive of the war and don’t hate Russia. We just don’t hear about it because:

    a) the Western media don’t even touch it.

    b) there’s heavy censorship in Ukraine, to the point where people are reporting their neighbours and family members as “Russian agents” to the government.

Unfortunately, the Ukrainian nazis are controlling the narrative right now. But it’s clear that many Ukrainians at the very least don’t see this war as an “existential threat”, the way we are told. We can look at circumstantial evidence that support this:

    • Zelenski’s government every other month announces new harder punishments for escaping conscription and insubordination.

    • Despite these punishments, a high number of people are still avoiding conscription and there’s a high amount of insubordination incidents in the military.

    • Zelenski has decided to suspend elections. That can be interpreted as Zelenski seeing the possibility that he won’t be re-elected. From a historical perspective, most war leaders in Zelenski’s position, usually enjoy a high % of popular support. We can assume that this is not true in Zelenski’s case.

firstly your assumptions are based on a western left liberal discourse where they accept there are Nazis in Ukraine but they are few. Its the opposite , nationalism in Ukraine has penetrated large section of society and these neo nazi parties , specially Azov movement and Aidaar groups have strong followers among the young generation . Saying alot of Ukranians don’t support the war is same as saying India is not a semi fascist state and BJP/RSS parties don’t have substantial support for it. If people of Ukraine hadn’t supported these nazi factions they would have overthrown Zelensky long time back at least from the western and central Ukraine. Election doesn’t mean anything if the mainstream discourse is pro fascism . Zelensky gives medals to Neo nazis , they are destroying the WW2 statues of Red Army and they worship Bandera as their hero. Period. I think only people from Eastern regions had anti fascist feelings which Russia took under their control last year. In India its the same , large section of young people have major hatred for Muslims and Chinese and the mainstream discourse for any bourgeois party has become pro Hindutva with some minor variations .

No, I believe there’s a pretty significant amount of Ukrainians who are Nazis or supportive of Nazis. I’m not trying to wash away this fact. In fact, I have experienced much the same in my country, which also has a Nazi/ultranationalist/ultrareligious problem. I don’t understand how you make the connection of what I said with what western media try to promote, as I am clearly critical of exactly this point.

But I think we should not discount the fact that there’s also a bunch of Ukrainians who are fearful of speaking out.

As I said, if the Ukrainians were taken over by nationalistic fervor, we wouldn’t be seeing so many cases of insubordination and escaping conscription. If the Ukrainians actually supported Zelensky, we wouldn’t have Zelensky cancel elections.

I don’t think so, nationalism is a hell of a drug. Yeah there are neutral people who wants to lead their personal lives but I guess more or less Ukraine was nazified . Zelensky scolding the Azov commander and the counter threat speaks volume of the country’s military infrastructure and hidden movement. It was all suppressed by western media to make them into NATO. That’s all. If china attacks India tomorrow, I am joining China’s side. Better die with the commies than dying with nazis.

I don’t think it’s really in our best interests to argue that the (likely significant because of the law of large numbers) Ukrainian comrades or socialists that have died during the Ukraine conflict don’t matter.

Especially because most of those people were harmed by Ukrainian militaries.

Granted, suspensions of elections during armed conflict is a very common provision in Constitutions across the globe. That’s not the suspicious, and pretty standard.

What’s much more telling is the banning of political parties.

Would they? Would they really? The propaganda is decades in the making. At this point you might as well ask Koreans to make peace
