Why would a vegan want to eat anything called a “burger”?

All of the vegans I’ve known and worked with, consider the idea of a burger gross to begin with, so they opt to call their versions of burgers “patties”.

      Okara patties are hella tasty.

Burger is an international word. You can ask a Finn, a Spaniard and a Turk for a burger and you’ll get roughly the same thing.

If you ask for a “patty” in Hungary, you will get referred to the nearest Peter.

“Veggie burgers, seitan schnitzel and tofu sausage do not confuse consumers, only rightwing politicians,” Thomas Waitz, Austrian Green MEP

I don’t really care how something is named but this made me laugh so much

If they have a problem with “veggie burgers” because of deceptive naming, then hamburger and hot dogs shouldn’t exist due to a pronounced lack of ham and spicy canine meat respectively.

So they think that there are accidental vegans blissfully unaware that the burger on their plates have not been made with meat…

Or do they think plant based foods are only eaten because of how they are named and if they can’t call them burgers the vegans will decide that not eating meat is less important than being able to eat something called a burger?

Honestly don’t understand what the goal of this is supposed to be for the farmers. It’s just pedantry isn’t it?

Fuck you, call meat as meat, and plant as plant. The only people that want to mislabel it are corporations trying to fool people into buying fake meat.

There is no market for plant based meat substitutes that are intentionally ambiguously labeled to deceive meat eaters. The money is in selling an alternative to conscious consumers. You may just be stupid
