I really enjoyed the first one but felt like the second lost something that made it special. It’s been so long I can’t remember what that might be. Probably playing the second first or as a standalone is still great though
I have been playing through 1 and played through 2 more recently. 1 feels like it takes itself way more seriously than 2 does and is actually kind of a deep story if you look past all the edge. A story about a sentient bio-weapon that learns to love and protect humanity despite his in built nature is genuinely an amazing concept.
