What a powerfully subtle piece. I can see Zelda mourning the separation that Link’s artificial slumber has created. It could also be interpreted as a game over screen (Zelda mourning over the actual death of her knight), or the stress that she feels imagining this possibility after feeling the need to ask them to put themselves into mortal peril time and time again.
