My daughter has expressed an interest in chess and joined the chess club so I’m trying to brush up a bit myself so we can play together.
I’m finding the lichess puzzles fun but some like this one are bizarre and some of the solutions seem similarly bizarre.
Am I missing something?
You seem to be missing the 8th rank.
Not sure how I didn’t notice this but I did a “best move” and the Queen just disappeared and it seemed to break things and immediately went to the next puzzle so I’m guessing bug.
Other than missing the 8th rank? Lol Lichess can have some tricky puzzles, and especially starting out they can seem like bullshit, but they’re really just very computer-y since the positions come from real games and the solutions are worked out by stockfish as opposed to being composed by a human to be solved by humans.

It is indeed :) that’s what confused me. I’m wondering now if I just accidentally scrolled down exactly the correct amount to cut out one row.
