Not spam! Looks like a decent quality no-nonsense general purpose bike. I have an '92 lugged 930 and it makes me wonder about finding a 970 or 990 frame for a bit of an upgrade. Who am I kidding, it would be for a whole other bike…

Even my 930 built up is 27lb, which is reasonable, so I have to imagine I’d save a pound or two on a 970 and gain a springier ride. Though for anything but off-road all my bikes end up gaining full fenders, and possibly generator hub lighting, so that would eat any weight savings, but should stay under 30 at least.

I have yet to weigh my bike. It’s probably in the 30lb range.

Now I’m curious to see your 930!

Absolutely loving the color and everything about it. Mine’s got the original 3x(22/32/42) 11-28. My use case is pretty much ATB which includes a lot of joyrides in the forest as well :)

To be honest, I have a lot of time for front derailleurs even though they’re unfashionable, especially for those of us who already understand how to use them them. What’s not to like about having 2 or 3 ranges? Reach the a rise or hollow and just flip into a another range for the other side… Close ratios and range… and straight chainlines.

Speaking of understanding how to use them. A coworker of mine leaves her 8spd rear derailleur in like 5th gear and only uses her 3x front derailleur to shift.

I was quite baffled when she told me this but hey, it gets her to work and home.

That’s almost exactly what it’s like riding a 3-speed. The ratio jumps are usually pretty similar.
