    My membership is like $70.

I think I added up all my gear a like 4 years ago and it was like $1200 for outdoor bouldering and top rope mainly. I think I’m going the have to retire my harness and ropes this year so that will be another ~$250 or so “maintenance cost”

No, bouldering is pretty cheap! Like shoes, chalk, and a $200 mat and you’re good to go!

It’s all the caribiners ropes, nuts, slings, and cams that add up for outdoor top rope

Ah my brain seemed to have skipped the second half of that sentence mentioning top rope. Yeah, that’s still a shocker for me though. A rope is a few hundred and I didn’t realize nuts and slings were used

I pay about 70€ a month for gym memberships, and maybe 50-100€ per year for shoes/resoling. Maybe add in 50-100€ per year for random gear, as I’m still building up my inventory

I have all the gear I’ll need for a long time because I’m not trying to do new things, just enjoying climbing when I get to go.

The local bouldering gym allows you to buy entry passes in bulk, so I don’t have a monthly fee.

Gym membership is ~93 a month which is very high but we have two gyms with a third location opening next year so you are getting a lot for the money including free classes (yoga, weightlifting etc) at one of the locations.

Gear wise I buy a pair of shoes every 18 months or so. Scarpa vapor v, won’t wear anything else. Those are around 200. Plus a bag of chalk every so often so another few bucks.

    Bouldering
45€ on membership, and then maybe 30€ per year for resoling and 8€ per year for chalk. I have 2 pairs of identical shoes (scarpa instinct vs) that im pretty happy with, so i think the only thing i might get in the next year is some durable sport clothing (recommendations?)
