Celebrity we deserve. But if I remember that story correctly, she really wanted the best. No malice was involved. Just overconfidence and, I suppose, a few bottles of wine :)

I think that’s why people remember the whole incident quite fondly on the whole. She had good intentions, did her best, and even asked permission first. Frankly the world needs a lot more people like her, despite her artistic misstep.

What’s bothering me is that it was 13 years ago, and that makes me feel old.

I don’t recall her asking permission, she just added some light touched way too many times and it took a while until the botched version was noticed.

          According to the article:

In 2012, Giménez, then 81, told BBC News that church members had “always repaired everything here”, and that she had permission from the local priest to do so.

She wasn’t exactly hiding when she did it either, she just sat there where anyone could see her.

Alright Jesus you have the opportunity to do something so fucking funny here that it might make up for the crucifixion and 2000 years of atrocities in your name

The 94-year-old’s death was confirmed by Borja’s mayor, Eduardo Arilla, in a Facebook post, in which he recognised her as a “great lover of painting from a young age”.

True, i just found it funny that he used a turn of phrase that obviously communicated “she got no talent, but a lot of heart”
