NSW Police have bowed to the pressure and removed Hyde Park from the declared area: https://aussie.zone/post/28802213
Against what are they protesting?
The article states:
Protesters at a rally commemorating 10 years since the death of Dunghutti man David Dungay Jr in police custody were ordered to move on by NSW Police on Sunday, with speakers telling the 200-strong crowd at Hyde Park it was more important than ever to march on Invasion Day, regardless of the restrictions.
“The presence of attendees on that day is going to be influxed and that’s why it’s important that people revoke those laws,” said Dungay’s nephew and protest organiser, Paul Silva. “We know that we can get 20,000-plus people to have a day of mourning with First Nations people.”
Do not see the point. People do die in prison due to guards mishandling. Why this one is special?

I have read it before asking? What is spacial about that guy? A criminal got unlucky in prison, he is not first not last.
When a lot of criminals keep getting unlucky in prison, it’s a sign that we might need to fix an issue with the prisons (supported by the coronial inquest findings). It’s likely more of a straw that broke the camel’s back than Dungay being special, or perhaps there was just stronger evidence of the issues this time.
Compare with other well-known social justice names, like Renée Good, recently shot and killed by immigration officers. They weren’t the first person shot and killed by ICE agents in the past month alone. And they won’t be the last. It was probably only a big catalyst because of either the video evidence of the murder, existing tensions with LEA abuse in the city, or possibly because the victim was more relatable to most Americans, and couldn’t be easily dismissed as a potential immigrant by their ethnicity (and therefore making them an unexpected victim). Renée’s case wasn’t particularly special, in fact it’s eerily similar to another murder back in September. It was simply a big enough straw on the camel’s back.
