There are a few users on here, including myself, who discuss socialist politics. While some topics are interesting and relevant enough to post in other news and politics communities, others might only be interesting to other socialists, such as updates on local political organisations, discussing how theories apply to our economy, or drier historical questions. Consider /r/AustralianSocialism for some examples.
This community will be strictly for Aus/Oceania-specific posts, as there are plenty of communities on other instances for general memes, overseas politics, etc.

I’ve created /c/aussocialism , but consider it on probation. Political ideology communities can be a lightning rod for trolls and general drama. I don’t want either here. If it becomes an issue I’ll shut down the community and it can find a new home.
If you need moderators to keep within the server rules, I’d be happy to volunteer (as I imagine @Zagorath@aussie.zone, @star@aussie.zone, @eureka@aussie.zone might also volunteer)

Sorry for the delayed reply, I didn’t see this comment until now.
I’d say none of us want any drama either, and that’s one of the reasons I wanted to make clear upfront that it’d be strictly about Aus-focused discussions. If I get the support of other moderators, we can gladly emphasise that we’re on probation, that drama, infighting and troll-feeding won’t be tolerated, and create rules to promote a respectful community.
