Like say for example I wanted a cool icon for my kbin/lemmy community.
I used the Reddit forhire sub in the past but it seems less active nowadays… plus it’s Reddit…
And I’ve used fiverr before but it seems better suited for having a cool artwork made than for webdesign or something highly specific due to the language barrier.
Upwork, freelancer, fiver are all gig websites you could use, since it’s a hobby project that’s probably your best bet.
Alternatively design discords might help, make sure to let them know it’s paid.If you’re looking for more premium then look for specific designers/web devs outside of these places.
On Fiverr there are plenty of graphic designers who speak English natively, they just likely aren’t the <$10 options. I believe there’s a spot in the user profile that shows what country they are located in.
You also could contact a local graphic design firm and get an estimate.
Oh yea I don’t mind paying, I’m not on fiverr to be cheap lol. Maybe I need to take a deeper look, most people on fiverr I had trouble with if what I wanted them to make me was more complicated than like a one sentence description lol. So I’ve never successfully had web design done off it.
However for things that require little to no explaining like getting a portrait made it’s been awesome.
Designer here. You could try searching for communities on the fediverse dedicated to design/web design/3D/etc and contacting someone if you like their work or just making a post about it if allowed, or a mastodon/microblog post with lots of related hashtags. Or if you really wanna widen the net, you can try looking on Twitter/Threads/Dribbble/etc. for people you like and contacting them.
