Gertrude Stein's famous quote, "There is no there there" is often understood as a slight, a pronouncement that a place has no substance.

This keeps coming up in legal chatter: “there is no there there”… wtf, that’s a strange use of these words. It came up a lot when Trump’s lawyer was despirately trying to defend him from impeachment by making an emotional “table pounding” plea.

Finally took the time to look this shit up. Not really enthusiastic about this phrase. Hope it dies soon.
