cool but your boss doesn’t give a shit if it’s good they only care about profit

I have way too much code written that essentially acts as a middle layer between APIs we use and implementations because of this. After getting burned a million times, I decided it was easier to implement my mental model and then when things change, update it to make sure the downstream dependencies still get what they expect.

Would recommend always doing this for anything critical, since fixing an API nuisance in one place is so much easier than fixing it everywhere.
