Talking about the list of communities on lemmynsfw.com/communities

There should be a block button next to the subscribe button so you don’t have to visit the community itself to block it.

This instance is small enough where you can still feasibly use local communities sorting, which would bring up things you don’t want to see. The alternative would be to subscribe to almost every community and only ever use subscribed sorting.

Also, I think the blur nsfw feature should apply to icons of communities you’re not subscribed to as well as banners (or have this be an option, alternatively you could say no nsfw content in the icon/banner itself), because just to block a community you have to see its icon and banner, which is exposing you to the content when you specifically want to avoid it

We’re all with you on this one, but it’s not like we can call up customer support, or blast corporate on twitter. Lemmy is community run and community improved. We are Lemmy.

Fellow users, if you know Rust, dive in. If you’re rich, donate on liberapay (or patreon). If you have readers or followers or friends, share your love of lemmy to others. If you can write a good, formal, enhancement feature request, hop over to the Lemmy github project. Again, I’m with you, but we’re currently shouting into the void.

I added them on Patreon. I’m hardly rich but the more of us that donate the more I think it would show that features helpful to us should be considered.

You can do it from your profile settings: Username -> Settings -> Blocks. Just type names/partial names then click to add. Don’t prefer Hentai? Type “hentai” and you can click all the various communiies. It works best when having the full community list page open in a seperate tab to be able to see the various names.

That being said, I do think the Community list page is a hot mess that the Lemmy project needs to improve. As you mentioned, it would be nice to block there. It also would be nice to sort on that page.
