At least going by preliminary data, Meta’s Threads is proving to be a more useful platform for brands than Twitter, which has been active in the space since 2006.

Launched on July 5, Threads has rapidly notched up a huge user base, becoming the fastest-growing social app ever by surging to 100 million registered users within just five days of its release. In the process, it outpaced even OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the most recent tech flavor of the moment.

Smells fishy. Who, where, and why? Dead accounts from Insta? Ai bots? Hired cheap labor? I don’t trust them at all.

Yeah just like the fb engagement data is completely bloated. Scroll past a video? That’s a view in Zuck’s books!

But wasn’t the 100 million users in the first few days just Instagram accounts converted across automatically.

Not automatically. You have to install the app and login with your Instagram account. Instagram has over over 2 billion users. If it was automatic threads would also have billions of users.

Ok, was sure I read that shadow accounts were created for all Instagram users, as someone reported that they were receiving follow suggestions for people they knew that hadn’t created a threads account.
