Hi all,
I recently purchased a new PC (prebuilt, yes I know I know) as an upgrade from my old PC. It will be arriving tomorrow and I’d like to transfer over the SSD which I had installed in my old PC into this one. The SSD in question has only games and some random files on it, no operating system or anything like that. What I’d like to know is, is there anything special I need to do to ensure compatibility? Can I simply just plug it in and I’m good? Do I need to wipe the drive and then treat it like I’m installing a brand new SSD out of the box?
By the way the operating system installed on the new drive is Windows 11 while my old OS was windows 10. I’m also going from an AMD to Intel CPU. I don’t know if any of that matter but I figure more information is always good.
I appreciate any help in this matter!
It depends. Ideally it’s plug and play, but it might not be, so ideally make a backup of the data in case you wipe it.
