It looks like the front tire is floating…
It is. Elevated by the kickstand.
I think thats why it looks like its floating
I think you’re right. The elevation by the kickstand probably gives off that appearance.
I thought about getting one, but more of the “bucket in front” Netherland style. I’m too lazy to go shopping once a week, when I’m going to fill that thing up to the top.
Get one with the basket attached to the frame!
The ones that ride on the front wheel mean you have to shift the load for all steering, for even the slightest correction. Inconvenient, and dangerous even.
I’m thinking something like this:
So as a Dutch dad who owns one of these I can say my only regret is not getting one sooner, my kids absolutely adore riding in it. However in the Netherlands our infrastructure is very much geared towards bikes so keep in mind that the experience will be different, because they are more difficult to stear and maneuver than a normal bike.
Infrastructure here in Germany is okish, getting better. And in my city there are plenty of … What’s gender neutral for bakfietsmoeder? Bakfietsouders? It seems to be ok.
Those are nice! I belong to a bike sharing service and I am able to rent them by the minute or by the hour. It takes a bit of getting used to but you can sure carry a lot of stuff.
Nice ride! Any system for attaching cargo on the back?
There are 2x50l panniers that attach to the rails, otherwise can use bungees and such to attach things, or add a box on top etc
Ooh, with those huge panniers you won’t be missing a car often! Enjoy!
looks smooth as fuck!
Wow, looks sturdy. I guess you could even attach a small trailer to it if you need to move something longer…
Sweet ride, looks like the radwagon - dare I ask what it set you back?
Does it include anything to help pedaling hills? Seems like it could get difficult if you’re fully loaded up?
Looks like a Bosch middle motor. They support up to 360% for up to 25 kph.
rear hub motor actually, 250W
Explain 360% please.
The motor supports with up to 360% of the wattage you put in to the pedals. Ie it boosts your input by 3,6 times.
Wow, that’s cool.
It has a belt drive? Why does it look like the belt is pinched in?
that’s a chain with an extra roller
It appears it’s just an additional gear to keep the chain from hanging as low and loose as traditional chains to help prevent things, like pant legs, from getting caught in it.
Also to create space for the stand
Electric bikes are fast af.
Sick bike, chain and sprocket replacement must be a bear of a job compared to a regular bike!
