Aside from the government decision, some schools had already independently imposed rules for pupils to put their phones in lockers for the duration of the school day.
Other countries are proposing similar legislation.

I can remember when they banned not wearing your seatbelt when in an automobile. Not just the driver, but everyone. You weren’t even allowed to be in the car if there weren’t enough seatbelts. I think that ban went pretty well.
