Reflections on Servo’s progress in 2023: contributor stats, new features, layout improvements, WPT pass rates, and plans for next year.
This project is so necessary, we really need a modern, open browser engine that’s not going down the path of enshitification.
In case you didn’t know, this is the project Mozilla dropped by the developers Mozilla fired. So if you feel like at the end of the year you have some money left over, maybe consider joining the crowdfunding effort. (I am not affiliated)
Servo and ladybird are our best hope to fight against Google monopoly. Considering they both new they can try emulating all the weird quirks of chrome so that compatibility with the net is maximal. Honestly, Mozilla being the only alternative to chrome is scary. Heck, Mozilla being an alternative for users didn’t stop Google from implementing things to take control of the internet.
I like that it’s licenced under copyleft MPL2
I hope it succeeds because I’m a fan of MST3K and like seeing the word Servo.
Great to see how project is shaping!
