Why would you ask ChatGPT anything? LLMs are not search engines, they literally make shit up. You might as well ask a GOP politician to explain ethics to you.

When filing a response, Mata’s lawyers cited at least six other cases to show precedent, including Varghese v. China Southern Airlines and Shaboon v. Egypt Air—but the court found that the cases didn’t exist and had “bogus judicial decisions with bogus quotes and bogus internal citations,” leading a federal judge to consider sanctions.

A member of Mata’s law team then revealed he had used ChatGPT to conduct legal research for the court filing that referenced the cases and that the artificial intelligence tool assured him the cases were real.

LLM fanboys would boil the oceans for a form response to their dentist office’s Merry Christmas text. Just slop another nuclear reactor’s worth of parameters on top because I wanted “Doctor” abbreviated as “Dr.” please.

It’s a definition, not looking up a legal case. I use the tool for what it’s good at: basic info, like definitions or API documentation, or translating text, or rewording emails to convey a specific tone.

Your argument is like saying you can’t paint an oil painting with a ballpoint pen. No fucking shit.

We don’t need to be fair to those assholes. Kids are kids.
