Answer
- Nf6+!!
It’s checkmate in 2 in one of two ways.
47…Qxf6
48. Qg4#
47…Kh4
48. Qh3#

It’s a speed chess game I just watched. Let me know if I screwed this up. I can’t copy and paste from the site.
I was so fixated on how black was going to win - I didn’t see the danger at all. I only knew black was toast due to the evaluation bar suddenly indicating mate in 2.
[Edit - I fixed a mistake]
I’ve been studying anarchist. White should fein surrender, throwing sand in black’s face, then 10 pawn goto b251
I was going to say white should embrace revolutionary defeatism and move their bishop to e6
10 pawn goto b251
That is fiendishly hard to refute.
White should surrender and read settlers

47…Qh4 48. Qh3#
assume you mean 47 king to h4, not queen
Oops. Thanks. I wish I could copy and paste. My transcription skills are shit.
hell yeah, I got it right.

I wanted to make Nh6 work but it just doesn’t. you just get mated first. you have to clear a path for the queen to deliver mate while checking so I looked at Nf6+ next.
I started down your first path, too.
I got it wrong, but this was fun, thanks!
G4-g6 check
White only has three pawn moves. After any of them - the bishop on f1 is hanging which means it’s unprotected so black can take the bishop with Rxf1.
-
f4. Black can take the knight with Qxg4.
-
h3.
-
h4. This attacks the Q on g5. But black can take the pawn with Qxh4.
I think I’m not following. How would black take the Knight at Qxg4 if the Knight moved to f6?
You’re talking about the knight moving to f6. I was only talking about pawn moves.
Ok - why were you talking about pawn moves?
Not op, but your original notation is for pawns.
Fuck, pawns have a special notation that only they use? I thought I could just name the starting square and the square it finishes on and people would understand? How else am I supposed to answer without learning a special language?
You name the piece and the square it moves to, you don’t name the origin square, that’s implied by the piece (unless there are multiple of the same piece that can move to the same square which you would then denote which rank or file differentiates the pieces)
Pawns do not have a symbol so if you were to say g6 you are saying a pawn is moving to g6.
N = knight
B = Bishop
R = rook
Q = Queen
K = King
To indicate a capture, use an x. So NxG6 means knight moves and captures whatever is on g6.
To indicate check, use a +. So NG6+ in this case.
To indicate mate, #. Ng6+, QxG6, Qg4#.
Sorry for being a nerd

Oops I meant f6
Huh interesting. The move I’d have made would’ve been Queen to B5. I am bad at chess and would lose.

did it myself in my head

Fuck chess. I fucking hate chess
Fuck chess. I fucking hate chess
I had that feeling a couple hours ago when I went 2-5 and the losses were crushing. They stomped on me.
I recently when from 898 to 777 losing a shit load of end games.
Do you play endgames against an engine? That’s what I do at chess.com. I leave the evaluation bar on so I can get immediate feedback. That’s very lazy but it makes it more fun.
I could go back through my games and do that to see where I lost my advantage. Great idea! Thank you
I could go back through my games.
That’s certainly an option. What I do is play though other people’s games. For me personally - going through my own games is no fun at all. But whatever works and keeps it fun is key.
Physical contests like MMA stamina is something that some fighters skimp on. I’ve always been kind of amazed how many fighters don’t fully understand how important stamina is. I think of endgames being the “stamina” of chess.
