Got recommended this store for cheap HDDs recently. They sell enterprise HDDs at near wholesale rates so they’re almost half the price per TB. Just picked up a couple of 16TB drives for like $800.

I’m waiting for a couple of people to report on their trustworthiness as some of their prices are a bit lower than I’d expect to see.

Just had a search around and it looks like Neology is an active user on OZBargains and was talking about group buys and helping with cheap HDD sourcing for a long time.

Yeah, the person who recommended me this site did mention that Neology used to be active on Ozbargain and ebay before setting up their site. Iirc I was told they source their HDDs in bulk from Hong Kong which goes some way to explaining the price difference. That’s also why the warranty is with Neology and not Seagate/WD.

So then hes a gray market importer and the warranty is only as good as you can trust him to stay in business.

Pretty much. But he’s been around since 2010 organising group buys. For nearly half the price I’m willing to bet on him being around for at least three more years.

$363 for a “new” 16TB Seagate EXOS… Setting off my “too good to be true” sense. How are your drives and what does the place look like?

Just placed the order a few days ago so haven’t gotten them yet. The person that recommended the site to me has bought several and they work. It’s cheap because the store bulk buys OEM drives so the warranty is through them instead of Seagate/WD.

My drives came in and they work fine. Spun up and reported the correct size. Passed a Wiztree test too. They are a bit “clicky” though. I guess that’s a characteristic of enterprise drives. Luckily I have a case with a lot of sound dampening.

Thanks for reporting back. The guy behind the site is arranging a group buy on ozbargain. I’m tempted to grab a couple…

Just my personal experience, but I would never suggest a Seagate drive, enterprise or home drive.
