Importantly other countries aren’t that mad about it either. I saw some posts about Trump making comments that seemed to suggest that mexico and canada could be targeted in the future for intervention related to drugs, so I went to canadian news sites to see what was up. The canadian government is basically like, “I’m not angry, I’m disappointed” and mostly because it goes against the norms of polite imperialism.

Damn, yeah being late diagnosed really puts a different lens on all the fun I had with dating.

✅ Impossible to flirt with because I don’t understand indirect communication. I also don’t know how to flirt.

✅ Total inability to play the games of dating (not the negative ones but the “dance” of courtship, I guess?"

✅ Rejection sensitivity making it impossible to know if someone likes me so I just assume no one is interested unless they flat out tell me in so many words and BOY HOWDY did that lead to some awkward situations

✅ People felt super rejected because people “make time for those they care about” whereas my lack of executive function means they probably are getting all my free time but it doesn’t look like that to an NT.

Both fortunately and unfortunately this manifested as manic Pixie dream girl energy so I did have access to dating. I didn’t think I would have been able to find a partner without internet dating though.

Funny anecdote: I once went on a first (and last lmao) date where we watched 500 Days of Summer in theater and that’s probably one of the worst 1st date movies ever 😬. But it was definitely a massive eye opener to the fact that people fall in love with an idea sometimes and that’s awful .

I’m a chemical engineer. I’m AuDHD but I HATE working at home. I want to be out in the field looking at stuff. Luckily there is no dress code (apart from safety gear lol) and I’d like to see someone try and tell me my fidget toys are unprofessional…

I would probably not do well in a lot of traditional engineering environments but I have managed to carve out a niche where I am basically the troll in the basement people come to with their problems. Let’s just say neurodivergence is over represented in my field 😅

Unfortunately we (and my part of the industry) are terribly understaffed so I’ve been working myself death for the last couple of years. This has lessened my ability to mask/cope. Some of the main challenges I have are:

• supervising people: most people I have supervised are super awesome and I’m happy to go to bat for them but once and a while I’m not so lucky.
• delegating and saying no: for the most part no one is overseeing my work so it’s really hard to get support prioritizing. Again, there is more work than any of us can do and this leads to conflict when my peers want someone from me and I have to say sorry, we’re not going to do that.
• over stimulation/slow processing speed: 9/10 times I manage to attempt to chair hybrid meetings in a large board room with people having side conversations and take minutes without crying but sometimes I don’t 🤷‍♀️
• inability to lie/unbridled rage at being lied to: I work with contractors and consultants and I absolutely cannot play the game - I call out lies without realizing that’s what I’m doing and you can imagine how well that goes over. Especially from a woman. Not lying also means adding tonnes of caveats to all of my answers because if I don’t give all the context that’s lying right???

I probably won’t fire this because I think the bowl has a crack and the plate doesn’t have a great foot but the idea is that the saucer is also a lid for the bowl so that when I can’t finish my meal or snack I can just throw the lid on and forget about it for a while. I intend to make a set that stacks for easy storage.

The meaning of flash in the way I use it is pre-drawn tattoo art offered by artists. This is in contrast to custom tattoos. In my community, there is a much shorter wait to get flash than a booking for a custom piece. The cost is usually less too. An artist might offer flash as a way to pick up extra clients without the effort of custom work because they often don’t allow too much customization, and often specify allowable size ranges and areas where they are willing to tattoo. It’s easier to estimate the duration of the appointment so they can fit more appointments in. It might be a tattoo that appeals to them personally or a technical challenge they want to add to their portfolio. Some artists will do the designs only once, others will repeat.

The cat in my tattoo is in place of the demon in the original art, not the horse. The horse is absent entirely. I don’t know why the artist chose to do that. I didn’t ask.

Lmao I am sure that more millennials and Gen z folks use AI in their emails than I realize but it’s the boomers and Gen x who largely fail to remove the telltale formatting, in my experience.
