ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever had the realization mid-argument, that you were very wrong?3·20 hours agoOften. I just say something like “okay, you might be right/you’re entirely right, my bad and thank you”. I like to ask and answer all sorts of things, this happens somewhat often, lol.
Colonizers gotta colonize.
If they were in a ‘concentration camp’ they would be more chill about non-deadly things, so no. I’ve only gotten banned from hexbear for wild reasons, apparently the mods in here are more reasonable.
The last two might make sense, the others don’t. But regardless, what is boring to one might not be to others. Some watch movies for visual spectacle and beautiful shots, others for deep, well written stories and sentimentality, strong emotion well portrayed, for instance. Preference is not necessarily an objective measure of quality, is what I’m saying, and that’s okay. That’s why you find some critic that watches movies for the same reasons and then try not to miss the movies he also enjoyed…

No, the people need some sort of shared moral ground, something axiomatic, so they police themselves and don’t cannibalize each other. Amorality (because moral relativists don’t believe in acts being ultimately, undeniably immoral) is the problem.
ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When is democracy appropriate and when is it not?3·2 days agoNo, friend, those people are forged by life, not bred. But if we all had a higher floor (ideologically - ethically), some of us could reach higher ceilings.
ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When is democracy appropriate and when is it not?6·2 days agoAutocracy is convenient when the leader is wise and just. Sadly, even if we found one, they’re not genetic traits. Democracy is convenient in any other case, but it’s harder to properly implement compared to autocracy.

ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it weird to sometimes wonder whether everything you know is wrong?11·3 days agoThose are your only “leftist” ideas? 😅 But no, if it’s still uncertain, it bears examination until it’s not anymore, one way or another, and that goes for every idea.

females are an electric light in the life of men close touch of a female can soothe the most wild beast
This was poetry. ❤️
But women are just people in the end, you don’t really believe they’re particularly backstabbing or treasonous, right? Some are confused and might hurt you too in their confusion, but that’s why you gotta be discerning so you don’t give your heart to a careless person. Too much hope can blind you, but too much negativity/fear won’t let you get out of the house.

ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was the biggest pill you've had to swallow about your own self or habits?3·3 days agoOf course! Mark 10:18. One must remember Jesus was a miraculous prophet of God (not dissimilar to Moses, but his birth was more “special”, more akin that of Isaac), a monotheist that constantly referenced “the law and the prophets” (several callbacks to Solomon in particular whom I also hold in high regard, primarily because of Ecclesiastes) and how he wasn’t here to break the law but to enforce it… he wasn’t followed because he wasn’t a “Jew” and it was a new and revolutionary religion he had established, he was followed because he WAS one and remembered/knew what it meant to be one in earnest. What Rome/Paulian tradition did afterwards with the image of Jesus, the creation of a entirely separate dogma in which ‘God’ is actually a pantheon and also partly FLESH AND BONE/anthropomorphic (following their pagan/polytheistic traditions, and because if not the empire might be reticent to accept such drastic changes), is something else.
There’s no “perfect” man, not even the prophets can be with all their God-given information and their great character, as no man is omniscient nor fully in control of themselves. And Jesus goes even harder, saying he’s not even “good”, because such a strict category only belongs to God. We can only be “good enough”, and that’s for God to decide.
Because “f u, I got mine” (and the other side of the coin too: “if I got fugged, so will you”) is the one true creed in American society, and everyone that opposes it is a heretic/commie.
ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was the biggest pill you've had to swallow about your own self or habits?31·3 days agoIf they care for you and love you back, that shouldn’t be a problem, right? Life is, and I’m quoting Solomon here, ultimately meaningless/vain/empty/vapor, what better life could we have than to love and be loved? Not everyone is a prophet/disease curing scientist/victorious revolutionary, the rest of us can focus on just enjoying our lives wisely (fearing God and keeping his commandments = being a good person in earnest), loving and being loved, as it fills us way better than food and shopping can.
ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was the biggest pill you've had to swallow about your own self or habits?4·3 days agoI’m sorry you’re in such circumstances, yeah, it’s kinda shit… But hopefully you’re wrong about being undesirable and someone good and not too old comes along! Maybe it could start online? Anyway, sorry again, God bless you.
ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When you are walking outside, do you often look around to make sure no one is following you? Do people normally do this, or am I just paranoid?71·3 days agoBenign? The man cannot be outside without being in constant fear!
