On top of the other things folks are saying, AI comics usually have beige overtones on them like this one does

Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Controversial 'Gingers are Black now' TikTok trend sparks unity in discussions about raceEnglish
4·8 months agoAs a joke, a number of black TikTokers declared white people with red hair count as black now and then didn’t add any follow up. Honestly a pretty funny trend, and I guess this article is saying it brought up an interesting discussion.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Forget foldable phones – LG's 'stretchable' in-car display can grow physical buttons when you need them, and I can't stop watching itEnglish
154·8 months agoEveryone in this thread is haters. Yeah it’s expensive, yeah it’ll probably break easy, but damn that’s actually a pretty cool gizmo to have. Not remotely practical, but that shit at least qualifies as “kinda sick”

News@lemmy.world•A Mississippi man spent 940 days in jail waiting for a trial that never came
26·8 months agoReminds me of this pair of brothers who spent 8 years in county jail for civil contempt
Ok but how many people in the whole US agree with you enough that you’d call them an ally? 2% .2%? Your plan is to enact change with 99.8% of everyone on the other side of you? The movement requires liberals and centrists to change their minds.
My guy I agree with you that trans lives matter more than money, but this is not how to convince people to join our side. Like absolutely this countries priorities are absolutely fucked, but opening with “fuck your money” is only gonna get assholes to dig in their heels

Severance@lemmy.world•Who would be found guilty of the murder of Drummond in a truly fair trial?
9·9 months agoWhy would a cosmically fair tribunal demand someone be found guilty? That doesn’t seem fair at all if nobody was guilty. What code of ethics are they abiding by then?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has anybody here actually succeeded in getting an online conservative/right-winger to reflect and legitimately and long term shift their views left?
29·10 months agoI was raised super conservative, and the two biggest steps on my journey to the left were Jon Stewart Bernie Sanders
Jon got my attention by pointing out the hypocrisy that did in fact exist on both sides. It gave me a space to exist where I wasn’t just called a wrong dumb redneck and dismissed, but felt like he was actually trying to meet me where I was. That allowed me to let my guard down and actually listen to what he was saying.
Bernie Sanders came along in 2016 at a point where I would’ve called myself a centrist and basically did the same thing. Non judgmentally gave me a space to exist, listed some topics I cared about, then gave me a cause for them.
People don’t like being told they’re wrong. You cannot debate someone out of believing what they believe. What you can do is ask them questions. Get them to consider why they believe what they believe, and eventually they may start seeing contradictions and change their mind on their own.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Deposits should be held by the city. The landlord should be forced to prove they deserve it in a court of law.
8·10 months agoRealistically the viewing could be replaced by the landlord taking a series of before and after photographs that are approved by the tenant. A $2000 deposit held in just a CD would generate $100 in a year, which is enough to cover a good bit of any random additional costs

Yeah this is a normal thing for them, they’ll have a real headline and then 3 funny comments about it
