I get ~200ms for Dune Awakening. (Australia to NA server) Rubber banding and delayed everything is my normal, but when those I play with hit half that, oooh boy.
Whatever, I don’t exist.

No Man’s Sky and Satisfactory keep me coming back. Cozy and itch scratching without being harassed for the latest microtransaction.
That said, if a game does have microtransactions without jamming them at my eyeholes, and I’m not missing anything without them, also acceptable.

32·16 days agoI don’t give a flying fuck how they try to explain it. I don’t want AI driven anything.
Let people opt in to that crap. They have an app store, out it’s there.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you seen that Robin Williams movie "One Hour Photo?" If so...
13·1 month agoI was working in a photo lab when it came out as well. The movie accurately portrayed (imo) how uncomfortably close to how involved one could feel when dealing with long time customers, even in a high volume lab where we rarely dealt with the customer. We’d see first dates engagements, weddings, kids being born, and so forth. Plenty of stories of ‘I saw Customer at the mall, had to stop myself from waving and saying hello and asking after Event’.
It’s not really much different from today’s social media and how involved some get in the lives of people they’ve never met or don’t even know they exist.
It made me double take on Robin Williams. I’d always seen him as Mork from his early career. I expected him to be over the top and funny, so watching him be serious and frankly disturbing was as confronting as the movie itself.
The red headed curse is so unfun when dealing with chronic pain. :(

3·2 months agoFair enough. The creative modes are definitely worth considering, you can set build cost to zero, eliminating the waiting and farming. Survival aspects can also be tuned, so you can stand in storms and feel like a god.
My favourite characters are those who don’t fit the ‘norm’.
My Dune character is a bearded lady with purple hair. I’ve had my purple haired lass in multiple games now.
People complaining about representation in games… Most of the time we are playing as murder hobos, and inclusivity is their big whinge?
Yup. The desire to cease existing is always at the forefront of everything.

101·3 months agoI prefer Neo-Luddite. There’s a few aspects of modern tech I eschew - AI/LLM bring one of them.
The problem with some succulents is they will appear alive, but actually already have one foot in the grave. It laying down without any grip into the soil might mean the taproot is gone.
When you repot it, take your time, and check that it’s tap root is intact. It’s ok to let it sit out in the open for a day or two - any damage should scab over. (And after repotting, let it alone for a week or so before offering it a drink)
If there is a taproot - you’re good to go, but if there is little to no root, chances are slim it will survive. There are methods to encourage a new taproot, but that is (currently) above my knowledge level. (AKA I’ve never been able to get them to grow a new taproot.)
It’s badly etoliated (stretching to get more sun) and appears to be in a soil with too much organic matter.
The poor dear needs heaps more sun, and soil that doesn’t retain much, if any water.
(I have a few lithops. I’m shocked yours is still alive!)

Canada@lemmy.ca•Ban flavoured vapes now, anti-smoking groups urge Carney’s government - National | Globalnews.ca
4·5 months agoWith vaping, and self mixing your own juice, you can control the nicotine content. I found it very useful in weaning myself off cigarettes, primarily the nicotine. I also found it helpful in not eating sweet junk food. Was well on my way to also ditching vaping when the Australian gov’t decided to blanket ban Vaping. I’m back at square one, craving sugar and nicotine. sigh
I did agree with some of the controls put in - not in public/shared spaces, not for kids, etc. But a total ban? That only creates a black market and a shiny for kids who want to rebel.
