News@lemmy.world•Oklahoma man doing target practice in his backyard accused of fatally shooting woman blocks away
37·1 month agoFor what it’s worth, it’s illegal in the USA too. Obviously that didn’t stop this moron.
This all looks amazing! I’m stoked.

Technology@lemmy.world•Disney+ cancellation page crashes as customers rush to quit after Kimmel suspensionEnglish
1·4 months agoOne subscription that’s a fraction of the price of any of the major streaming services and gives access to anything you could want to watch. Trust me, it’s worth it.

News@lemmy.world•In Zelenskyy meeting, Trump jokes about starting a war to halt 2028 elections
1·5 months agoThat’s correct, and basically the reason the whole “Zelensky is a dictator” argument doesn’t hold water. He’s following the laws of his country by not holding elections. Our country doesn’t work that way.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do i tip my bartender $2 per drink and per bar food order but 20% when I order food from a waitress? Am I tipping wrong?
41·5 months agoI guarantee this person has never waited tables.
I’m just learning from this thread that we Americans have a reputation for small talk with strangers. For what it’s worth, it’s not really true in my experience. I never have cashiers or people I’m sitting next to on the bus try to engage me in conversation. Though it is true that smiling while interacting with people is considered polite.

4·6 months agoI use Orca on EndeavorOS and it works perfectly. There’s an AUR package for it so it’s simple and well supported (would work as well on anything Arch based).

2·7 months agoIf you stopped playing after 3, and who could blame you, than you did miss out on Black Flag which was probably the high point of the series. But your general point still stands, Black Flag is kind of the exception that proves the rule.

News@lemmy.world•‘Explosive increase’ of ticks that cause meat allergy in US due to climate crisis
15·7 months agoThis happened to me once (with deer ticks, not lone star) while I was having a nice walk in the woods high on shrooms. Worst trip of my life.

3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Are there other options than Prusa/BambuLab?English
4·8 months agoFor what it’s worth, I regularly print materials not supported by the AMS on my Bambu P1S and it’s quite painless. There’s a spool holder on the back of the machine that you can load directly to the extruder bypassing the AMS. Of course, if your goal is do multicolor prints in TPU obviously that won’t work.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•What grass starvation does to the perma-online
9·8 months agoI actually really like the story of Dune, but I kind of have to agree that the writing leaves a lot to be desired. The fact that Herbert constantly switches perspectives with no indication in the middle of chapters, or sometimes even in the middle of paragraphs, drives me up the wall. I almost couldn’t finish them because of that.

Technology@lemmy.world•End of 10 - Windows ten is ending. Microsoft wants you to buy a new computer. But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?English
5·9 months agoYeah Proton is definitely the way to go over using Wine directly. Valve has put a ton of work into making it seamless. I have a large steam library and have found literally only one game (Destiny 2) that doesn’t work. And that’s just because Bungie has gone out of their way to make sure it won’t run on Linux for “anti cheating” reasons.

2·9 months agoI’ve gotten a lot of freezing and stuttering playing on my desktop PC (Linux with Proton). The deck actually seems to be more stable, though it is locked to 30 fps and textures still take a minute to load sometimes.

6·9 months agoI’ve been playing it on steam deck, it’s definitely playable but I wouldn’t call it smooth.
