2·2 years agoCrimea was part of Russia, the RFSR, until the 1954, until it was transferred to Ukraine without any referendum or popular will. Russians/Russians speakers have outnumbered Ukrainians in the area since it was colonized by Catherine the Great. IDK the full story on the ground, but it’s not at all suspicious that the people there would have wanted to reject the Banderites that came to power in 2014.

1·3 years agoI doubt they’re tier 1 operators, but it’s not as surprising as you think. Imagine if you served in Iraq/Afghanistan like 10 years ago, fighting against people way less technically savvy. It’s easy to get complacent, especially in a war like this when you’re fed so much crap about Ukrainians effortlessly crushing Russian demons.
It kinda is because it implies you’re either desperate or stupid.
