We use Chimera OS for our living room pc. The pc just has some old stuff we had lying around after upgrades. (A i5 4 gen, AMD Rx 470 and 16 gb ram)

My understanding is if you want steam big picture (or how it is called now) with the game scope compositing window manager. Just like on your steam deck. You want to stick with AMD gpu’s (Rx 400 series or higher). There is now some support for Nvidia gpu’s (rtx 2000 series or higher), but it’s not stable yet. On discord some people running chimera os have some success with Nvidia, but also some big problems. I don’t know how bazzite is going on with support for Nvidia. And also don’t follow it all the time for chimera os.

So I recommend at least a AMD card for now.

We have a 4k tv but obviously are playing at 1080p, if you want to play at 4k you of course need a better gpu. But for us playing 1080p on the couch is good enough. (But I’m looking for some good secondhand deals for a upgrade)

Heb zelf een paar euro gedoneerd op jaarlijkse basis. Probeer sowieso elk jaar wat te geven aan open source software, maar meestal rond het nieuwe jaar. Geen bakken met geld, maar als ik het kan missen een paar tientjes.

Inmiddels heeft 1 van de devs aangegeven dat alleen donaties vanuit open collective worden gebruikt voor .ml. En dat de kosten voor de server die ze ook als test server gebruiken vrij laag zijn. (Ander bericht)

Ben het sowieso niet altijd persoonlijk eens met de devs, maar transfobie valt wel erg tegen. Tuurlijk worden LHBTA+ acties vanuit bedrijven en ander partijen misbruikt voor winst, maar ik zie meer vanuit marxisme je de vrijheid moeten hebben om jezelf te ontwikkelen op elk vlak inclusief sexualiteit en gender en dat de maatschappij dat moet ondersteunen. Met de juist zorg, gelijke kansen/rechten en bescherming.

At our repair cafe we only suggest Linux Mint. Sure if the person knows something about linux and want/needs a other distro we will help. But it helps us with support/writing manuals and for most people Linux Mint is fine.

I’m know my why around linux a bit, but for alot of other volunteers it also there first time touching Linux in anyway.

We don’t want to scare people away with 100+ options. Just simple, windows like and sane defaults.

Vond het ook wel grappig, maar op youtube gekeken. Vind nog steeds toen ie 1 keer per week had leuker. Kan je toch wat dieper op dingen in.

En mensen die onder de participatiewet(en waarschijnlijk andere uitkeringsgerechtigden, maar dat weet ik zo niet) vallen uiteraard. Als je dat weigert kan je gewoon gekort worden op je uitkering.

Hier inderdaad het zelfde. Nu hebben we nog wel wat eten en water in huis altijd. Maar vooral een radio op batterijen/nood radio en kom zo ook bijna nooit tegen in de kringloop.

Als er echt iets aan de hand is zou ik het fijn om te horen wat er eigenlijk gebeurd. Vooral als je niet naar de buren kan.

My dad just said in the WhatsApp group, why not move to signal. I tried moving friends and family before, but now that there has been anti meta media reports in some news sources. But especially reports on signal in almost every major newspaper and news source.

It seems not only a push because of privacy, but even more a anti big tech(especially us tech) and buy/use eu stuff push.

I don’t mind the push I’m just curious if people stay on signal. Previous time there was a push to signal (during whatsapp technical difficulties and privacy push) people quickly want back to whatsapp.

Now my volunteer work, 1 friend and a family chat already moved to signal. The only thing I did was some explaining that you can just send images and so on. (That it’s not something scary)

Only did this for a few seconds filming. Otherwise it was in use or out. But also don’t know why I left it there for filming 😅

Belangrijkste reden om voor een partij te kiezen of niet blijft natuurlijk of je het eens bent met hun standpunten en eventueel stem gedrag.

Dan is het misschien handig om te kijken (vooral als je actief lid wil worden) welke partij actief is in de buurt. Ik ben zelf lid van de sp en de eerste 6/7 jaar was ik ook actief lid in een relatieve actieve gemeente. Nu woon ik in een minder actieve gemeente en heb ik minder energie/tijd. Dus zo nu en dan doe ik wat. Dus dat komt goed uit.

Handig vond ik wel om te zeggen ik wil zo veel uur per maand er insteken. Voor je idealen willen sommige mensen nog wel over hun grenzen heen gaan.

It’s a self pollinating variety, but if a other tree is nearby it will have more fruits. My old neighbours had 1 appel tree and 1 pear tree that where also self pollinating. They had fruit almost every year.

I’m also looking to get a appel tree and self pollinating is one of the things it needs to be. I have room for only 2 small trees and rather have 2 different fruits then 1 but more. But as I understand self pollinating variety work but if there is a compatible species nearby you get more fruits. But I will see how much fruit it will produce if any.
