  • We need regulations and inspections to make sure these companies don’t do animal abuse. Also, we must bring externalities into the pricing of said meat and remove every subsidies. I don’t mind people eating meat. I just want the cost to be the real cost while reducing animal abuse to the minimum. We know how, there’s no reason to continue what we do now. Currently, the profit motive is too high.

  • I have 3.

1 yale assure. It’s not loud, doesn’t seem to want to die when locking, good looking and no key hole. I quite like it. They scream quality Imo. The only drawback that I see is that I have no way of getting a zigbee module.

2 Weiser smartcode. One ZWave and one zigbee. They are loud as fuck, they want to die each time you lock or unlock them. At some point I think they will explode. They are cheap because every SIP that sells home security suite give them, so you can find them on the cheap on marketplace.

I recommend yale assure. Jokes aside, the Weiser are fine if you can get them cheap. They will probably last, they’re just annoying.

I don’t want anything wifi and don’t want anymore ZWave (since I have almost no devices, so my network sucks). I tend to prefer digital keypads since you can just wipe your fingerprints. On physical buttons, the buttons will start to wear. Anyway I solved that by taping a NFC tag by each door that unlock their corresponding door, so I almost never touch the keypad. I might investigate the next yale assure 2 when they will release their matter module.

  • De buyer pans are high qualify carbonated steel pans. They need to be seasoned, much like a cast iron pan. They are thick and hold heat well too, though not as much as cast iron. Still good for searing though. What I love with those pans is that they are very flat (don’t no if I can say it like that), like Teflon pans and unlike cast iron, so I find that cooking eggs is much easier. They are lighter and you can still use metal utensils.

It’s an in-between cast iron and stainless steel cookware. In my opinion, they are better than cast iron. I’m slowly replacing my cast iron cookware with these. They are more expensive, but worth it.

  • I have a Dell R730XD with 128Gb RAM and a 49TB array. It’s way overkill for my needs, but I have fun with a lot of docker containers running on Unraid. I can also host a few web apps for my own needs. The Unraid docker GUI became way too slow to use, so now I manage everything through Portainer and modified everything to use stacks and docker compose. It’s much easier to manage now.

  • I used to manage my files manually. Once Netflix decided to cancel most of the series I liked and raise the price at the same time as most compagnies removed their content from there to start their own streaming services, I decided that I should manage my own stuff, so I looked at ways to automate everything to make it simpler.

Now I have a beefy setup that I like and is more reliable than having to find which service offer what and having to juggle subscriptions. It’s not even about money, it’s about ease of use and accessibility.
