Jeeve65@ttrpg.networkto Dungeons and Dragons@lemmy.world•Which VTT offers the most fluid experience?4·10 days agoIt’s pretty easy for players. You can lock everything and give them access to their own token(s) only. The player can pan and zoom their own view, but when required you can sync all player views with your current view.
I’ve used Owlbear Rodeo in online sessions with co-workers that had never before played any ttrpgs, and it went great.
Jeeve65@ttrpg.networkto Dungeons and Dragons@lemmy.world•Which VTT offers the most fluid experience?21·10 days agoI use Owlbear Rodeo
It has maps, tokens, fog of war and some small tools like a pointer and a measuring tool for distances — everything I need.
If required you can install extensions but so far I do not really use that.

Maybe journalists should have contacted the police before publishing?

Jeeve65@ttrpg.networkto Dungeons and Dragons - Memes and Comics@lemmy.world•I WILL NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE8·19 days agoHad not looked at Chain yet. It requires the same dc20 check to break as you would need to break rope. wtf?
My previous character was a Dwarf Marine (barbarian, path of the ancestral guardian). He was wielding an anchor as a 2-handed weapon.
He met his fate killing a sub-boss. (that is: a boss that came from the sea floor, the captain of a submersible galleon)
Jeeve65@ttrpg.networkto Dungeons and Dragons - Memes and Comics@lemmy.world•I WILL NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE48·20 days agoIn the 2024 rules, rope:
- weighs just 5lb.,
- weirdly does not specify a length (so you always have enough??),
- and is a bit harder to burst (dc20 vs dc17), but you can now use Athletics instead of pure strength
oh, and the fancy Silk rope is no longer in stock.

Really annoying - I don’t suddenly type in Danish when I’m on a business trip to Lyngby (near Copenhagen)

Ttrpg’s can definitely be used by therapists (e.g.see https://gametogrow.org/ ) but people in general should not underestimate the skill and training professional therapists bring to the table. Just playing an rpg is not therapy.
I get the 21 , but I’m not clear about the 100.
I assume you already discussed this with your players – I know that in my main player group just 2 of the 8 are willing to GM regularly, some will do oneshots, but also some freak out by the thought of having to lead a session.
I like the episodic approach, I’ve been thinking about that for my 2nd group since we only play once per month and it is hard for most to remember story elements that happened two or more sessiona ago (and note taking is hard 🤔).
On the other hand I like having some sort of continuity that might turn into an overarching story later on. Things like recurring NPCs, friendly or villainous. If there is no continuity at all, I fear it might turn uninteresting rather quickly.
But ‘monster of the week’ is an existing format (there’s even a published game by that name)
