Furries are awesome. So much talent, and they use it. Never understood the hate on them.

8·6 days agoHere in New England we don’t talk about rain and shine, we talk about how yesterday was 60f and today it’s 17f with getting 3ft of snow.
While the in-person protests are awesome for how large they are and I feel they’re good for spreading the mood, they themselves are ridiculously easy to ignore.
A bunch of people screaming on the street for a few hours. Oh no. Whatever will the administration do? How will they ever defeat that? They can just ignore people! /s
I look at protests as events to reach/inspire people who can actually figure out how to DO something other than ask Fascists to “pwetty pweeese stop :(”.
I was told last night that there’s a bot for Stoat that can kinda “cross-post” between Stoat and Discord.
Idk if any others have that, but a bridge like that could be real useful for an interim, to move a community to a better platform without needing to cut down a discord community that isn’t on board with ALL moving to a new platform overnight.
I had a several year streak until Loss got spammed everywhere.
Since people want you to see Loss, my brain links to “You lost The Game” thanks to the similarity between the words loss/lost.
So most of the time I don’t lose The Game from being mentioned itself, but I Loss The Game because of that other dumb meme.
It’s cool, yes.
But there are ethical and environmental issues with it, and his response to people bringing that up is a pretty bad look. It’s one thing to have discussions and disagreements about using genAI for memes, it’s another to insult people saying it’s bad.
And some people actually do consciously vote with their dollar, so it’s nice to share information about where the dollar goes.
For anyone in the pure “fuck AI” crowd, I link this, just so they can be informed that Simon isn’t pure anti-AI.
Personally I still enjoy and support Hytale.
But I know AI is a hot topic, so there’s for anyone who wants to know.
Sorry to break it to you, but if you believe that the Christian god exists yet don’t think there was ever a guy named Jesus that rose from the dead after 3 days, you’re still a theist even if you call it atheist.
And if you think it’s acceptable to kill pigs because you like their cooked bodies, you’re still practicing carnism even if you call it veganism.
Always have been.
Sadder is that you can explore plant-based bacon options.
Sure it may take a few tries to find a brand or recipe you like. But like, I still eat bacon. It’s just not made with animal sources.
I SO missed bagels with cream cheese and egg salad. Tofutti cream cheese is garbage amd tastes like water. Daiya has a meh taste and awful aftertaste. Kite Hill is perfect (for me). And it turns out, pummeling a block of tofu and adding yellow mustard, vinegar, black pepper, and black salt satisfies my egg salad craving!
It also gets super annoying when people start learning the watered-down meaning.
The number of times people have asked “But you eat fish, right?” because pescatarians call themselves vegetarians instead of taking 3s to explain “It means I eat plants and fishes” is real annoying.
Labels with a specific meaning that have practical applications should not be muddied with use like that.
It does. It’s just a word for people who follow the belief that it’s normal, natural, and necessary to consume animals.
Since those people are the invisible majority, it’s often taken as an insult to have their ‘normal’ status get a label. Veganism is the belief that we shouldn’t exploit and harm animals, carnism is the belief that we should.
Which is hilarious in hindsight, because the reverse happens in other topics. Call someone in other circles ‘normal’ and they’ll throw 15 label names at you for why they’re not normal.
Carnism would still technically cover “vegan plus (animal-based) bacon”. That’s kinda like saying you’re an atheist but believe in (insert god here).
Commenting so I check back later because allegedly this is OC?
This is disgusting and I can’t help seeing if there really is an update.

4·1 month agoMy shower thought of the day is wondering if the bidet vs toilet paper thing is a guy argument.
Because I definitely need to wipe when I piss. I can’t just aim, fire, and shake it dry, and being wet there would just make me wonder if it was water or urune.
(Disclaimer: I don’t actually know if guys do that. I haven’t exactly watched. Going off what I’ve heard and it kinda makes sense I guess?)
I was born in the early 90s and also have no retirement plan.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Its so transparently disgusting how ICE is occupying northern states where illegal immigration is hardly an issue. The aberration of slavery has never gone away in the USA.
2·2 months agoPoint of post aside, I never thought about the “ownership” dividends of USA land before the current map.
Interesting to look at.

42·2 months agoI am currently personally unaffected but not under any delusion that things aren’t like that.
Just because you’re not a child whose mother just got shot dead by ICE Nazis, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to plug your ears and pretend everything is fine until it effects you.
This is time to pay attention and get mad.
I hate that our greatest hope is that the guy is 80 and has shit health.
Clearly the people aren’t going to actually do anything besides disapproving looks and politely asking him to stop ignoring the law and constitution.

I hate that it’s so on-brand for the US to target a school.
