There is an argument to be made about that. Not a very convincing one though.
That is pretty much how the mechanics of human consciousness works. We also know we are going to die some day, and that it is most likely not going to be very pleasant leading up to it. But we still manage to block out that knowledge of finality in our daily life.
No, the current climate change situation is unparalleled in human history.
Yeah, I burned 100s of music cds as well about 20 years ago, and stored them in those books with slots. They weren’t stored in a car, but still about a quart of them doesn’t play anymore, and I am sure it won’t be long before none of them will. All my store bought cds of the same age or older still works fine though.
Homeburning is not a good physical media alternative.
And just imagine how much AI slop is being generated every day, and the output is increasing exponentially. It can be very long until the AI slop has completely drowned the human produced part of the internet. A lot of vested interests would be very happy with a situation where you can’t trust facts and information.

Merva@sh.itjust.workstowholesomememes@lemmy.world•Checking the crush to see how she reactsEnglish23·2 days agoIs it really that difficult for you to fathom some people not understanding it? Are you ok? And what has being ok to do with any of this?
I see the facebook trend of finding random picture of girl and then adding derogatory “jokes” on it has reached lemmy.
For anybody else in his position it would have been a pretty big deal. But because it is Trump and we know how he is with words (as in not at all), this is “nothing”.
And only peope who were as extremely stupid as himself would have ever realised that connection.
Well, racism is still very much part of the equation alongside all the other bigotry. It is a buffet of bigotry, allowing bigots to pick their favourite one as a reason to vote for them.
Because they voted for hatred, they just didn’t vote for that hatred to target themselves. This is not people realising they were wrong, this is just a “he isn’t hurting the right people” moment by an asshole.

Merva@sh.itjust.worksto Games@lemmy.world•Just months after reportedly cancelling two live service games in development, Sony announces a new PlayStation studio with a live service game in developmentEnglish4·4 days agoOf course we can’t really know what goes on behind the scenes. But obviously these kinds of games are designed by committee (namely board members). So every single detail is going to be dictated from above, and as new games are released by other publishers with new succesful features these dictates changes mid-production. I can’t but imagine that the development of live service games are a complete shitshow from start to finish.
So perhaps at some point they decide to get rid of the entire mess and start afresh, only for the process to beging again of course.

They can blatantly and unconvincingly lie, their followers will regurgitate those lies, but neither of them really believe them. They are just posturing and having fun with words, just like fascists always have done.
Never believe that [fascists] are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The [fascists] have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.
As with all of his crimes that would require someone to hold him accountable, so not really.
