Yes, it isn’t federated, but you can host your own server for your community. That way you are independent of any central organization.

Same here. Kinda feels good to know I am not alone with this, though.
I’ve been using NixOs as my main OS for about 4 months now. The only thing I have an issue with is getting my printer/scanner to work. It used to work with Fedora on the same machine.
I transferred my configuration to a flake but could not motivate myself to getting started with home manager.
You’re right. It does not fit the initial picture.
