Yes. Cheese protects against death from any cause.
The real question is, why aren’t you eating more cheese?

Kind of surprised I didn’t see anyone mention Flash Gordon, from the early 80s. It’s not a great movie, but it’s highly entertaining and Queen did the soundtrack.
Off topic, but since this is an post about pixelfed and I can barely find anything about this issue elsewhere: is there any way to get hashtags you’re following to actually show up in your feed? All I’m getting is a handful of accounts I’m following, and since they don’t have much content, it’s a pretty limited experience.
He regrets nothing, clearly.
Way to go, Glenn. Keep living your dreams.
There’s nothing more disappointing than clicking into a thread because it looks like it might be interesting or fun, and realising 90% of the comments are the same old, tired jokes, repeated ad infinitum.
Kicking corporate ass sounds like exactly what I need right now. Congrats on making your dreams come true! I’d love a paperback if I’m lucky enough to win.
The mods of r/pics are absolute queens and kings. Bravo.
Thanks for the info all. Can’t see your responses in the thread, but they showed up in my inbox. Growing pains :/
Is that a recent Lemmy update? I wonder if Inshould mention it to the Beehaw admins.
Henning Mankell’s Wallander books are great, if you’re into the slightly depressing Nordic vibe.
As much as I’d love these monsters to go to war with each other, it would mean civil war in the country with the most nuclear warheads, and that makes the prospect something I can’t celebrate.
Haha, I once mentioned on reddit that I thought I would’ve liked it if I’d read it as a teenager and got downvoted to hell. The setting was interesting, and I appreciated the ideas, I just thought the actual writing was very clunky. No judgement on anyone who liked it is intended, I’ve certainly enjoyed some poorly written books just because the ideas explored were new to me.
Thanks for the recs, I may give another book a try once the memory has faded more.
This should make some people mad… I thought The Dispossessed was an awful book. The characters were flat and the way Le Guin explored the themes had all the nuance and subtlety of a Garfield comic. It’s the only book of hers that I’ve read, put me off exploring the rest of her work.
Paywalled, can anyone copy the text?
Hilariously, a subreddit that I mod, with less than 700 subscribers and like, 4 slightly active users (3 of whom are mods), just got the threatening modmail. We only went private as a gesture of solidarity, there’s maybe one post a week so it’s not exactly a bustling community. I’d made the sub public for about an hour every couple of days in an effort to avoid this sort of thing, guess it didn’t work.
Nice! How long does it take to completely unfurl? I have a McColley’s Finale that never unfurls without help; I think my house is too dry for it. Really should give it away. ☹️
Hoyas are so neat, they have a wide variety of leaf and flower shapes. I should have a couple more blooming in the next few days, I’ll post pics!
Just that some hoyas may need more water than you would think, really. I water this one every two days, it never gets dry. If it dries out at all the new leaves look weird and a couple of old ones will drop, as will the peduncles. It’s in an airy soil mix, but I am constantly surprised that it isn’t dying of root rot, lol.
Have you tried using an orchid fertilizer to get yours to bloom? The miracle grow spray seems to get them going, I use that once a week (it’s very weak) and also use the shultz liquid fertilizer at about half strength every second watering or so, during the growing season.
